Why write about proposals?

I love hearing the story, I don't know what it is, maybe because I've never experienced it but it just seems so special. Which is funny because when I ask my mom about how my dad proposed she has to laugh... First of all my dad apparently said that he didn't believe in marriage and would NEVER get married. Of course my mom didn't believe that, she moved in with him and just knew he would propose, she was alone in this belief however - when she moved in with my dad my aunt told her "he'll never buy the cow when he gets the milk for free". In any case on a day that my mom claims to be delirious from the flu, my dad chose to propose, not so romantic, and I'm not sure why he chose this time to propose. But really does it matter how and when you ask? I don't think I could ask that question...
